ST. JOSEPH, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Sunday, the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety reported a rescue of two Illinois-area sisters from Lake Michigan.
Around 4:30 p.m., officers were called to the scene of the incident at Lions Park Beach.
The sisters, ages 29 and 32, were in deep water and were having trouble escaping. Civilians at the beach were able to help get the sisters to safety.
Both of the women were then hospitalized. The 29-year-old sister was treated and later released, while the 32-year-old woman remains in critical condition.
St. Joseph police will provide updates on the 32-year-old sister as they develop.
Meanwhile, rescue personnel in South Haven are still searching for a man who disappeared in the waters of Lake Michigan Sunday. The incident happened near the mid-point of the North Beach.
