LAGRANGE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a driver fled the scene of a vehicle crash Monday morning in LaGrange Township.
Just after 11 a.m., police were called to the scene of M 62 Highway and Dutch Settlement Street.
A vehicle driven by 74-year-old Cassopolis resident Penny Michkiewicz stopped to turn left onto Dutch Settlement Street when she was rear-ended by another vehicle.
The driver of this vehicle then fled the scene on foot.
Michkiewicz was injured in the crash and was transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital via PrideCare Ambulance.
At this time, the other driver has not been located. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and Michkiewicz was wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
This is the second crash to occur on Dutch Settlement Street recently. Last Monday, July 6, another crash occurred just miles away on the same street in Penn Township.
In that case, a 20-year-old New York resident was driving south bound when he failed to stop at the signed intersection, colliding with another vehicle as a result.
He was transported to a hospital for injuries sustained.
