DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Monday, officials with AAA reported that Michigan has seen a 9 cent increase in gas prices this week.
Data provided by AAA indicates that Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.26 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 16 cents more than this time last month, but still 68 cents less than this time last year.
In Kalamazoo County, the average gas price is currently listed as $2.21 per gallon, which is still among the lower numbers statewide.
Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price increased. Metro Detroit’s current average is $2.29 per gallon, 5 cents more than last week’s average but still 65 cents less than this time last year.

- Least expensive gas price averages: Traverse City ($2.09), Flint ($2.23), Jackson ($2.23)
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand took a slight step forward to 8.77 million b/d from 8.56 million b/d last week. The small increase in demand contributed to a decrease in total domestic gasoline stocks by 4.8 million bbl to 251.7 million bbl last week.
