COLON, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The St. Joseph Sheriff’s Office is reporting that one man drowned over the weekend at a Colon area campground.
Police say that just before 4 p.m. on July 4, 24-year-old David Burns Jr. of Bellevue was walking in water at the Leidy Lake Campground when he unknowingly crossed into a deep water area.
Police say Burns did not know how to swim and he was not breathing when family members recovered his body. He was transported by boat to the campground beach.
