PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The opening of Buddy’s Pizza in Portage has been delayed due to the coronavirus.
Officials with the parent company report that an employee tested positive for the virus on Friday, after having passed a medical screening the previous day.
The company will conduct a complete cleaning of the restaurant and have asked all other employees to stay home and self-monitor.
The restaurant was set to open on July 6th. A new opening day has not been determined.
Buddy’s is located at the location of former Old Chicago on South Westnedge Avenue.
According to their website, “Buddy’s Pizza invented the Original Detroit-Style Pizza in 1946 at the Six Mile and Conant location in Detroit. The very first Detroit-Style Pizza was created in a blue steel pan used to hold car parts, giving the pizza its unique, square shape.”
