KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Baseball is finally kicking off in Kalamazoo and the diamond is ready to go, thanks to the help from some furry four-legged workers.
32 sheep from the company Tending Tilth were brought into Homer Stryker Field and spent 48 hours clearing overgrown brush and grass around the ballpark.
The city of Kalamazoo posted photos of the hungry hard-workers on their Twitter page with the caption, “Sheep are more environmentally friendly than lawn mowers and adorable too!”
City officials say the sheep will also help clear a few of the local parks.
Tending Tilth added on their Facebook page that thanks to the sheep, the soil was left aerated and fertilized and the plants and fence lines were cleared.
The Kalamazoo Growlers and newly-formed Kalamazoo Mac Daddies will kick off their season at Homer Stryker Field at 6:35 p.m. on Wednesday.
