BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Battle Creek Fire Department is looking into the cause of a fire at a flooring store in the city.
It broke out just before 1 p.m. Monday in the warehouse area of Michigan Tile and Carpet located on East Columbia Avenue, east of Capital Avenue Southwest.
When crews arrived they found smoke coming from the rear of the structure. The building fire suppression system was activated which helped contain a majority of the flames.
Firefighters battled the blaze even through the hot weather conditions.
The estimated property damage is around $15,000 and the estimated contents damage is around $30,000.
There were no reports of injuries and the cause is still unknown.
