KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers are launching an investigation after an argument sparked a shooting at a downtown gas station in the middle of the day.
It occurred around 4 p.m. Monday at the Shell gas station on West Michigan Avenue near South Westnedge Avenue.
Authorities say two vehicles met up at the gas pumps and got into one vehicle. An argument ensued and that’s when two men pulled out firearms and opened fire at each other.
Video footage shows the two men and a woman leaving the area in their vehicles. Money was scattered throughout the parking lot following the shooting.
In a press release, KDPS stated, “This shooting occurred in a business parking lot while the business was open and endangered the lives of innocent bystanders who were nearby.”
The department has not had contact with any of the involved parties and they’re hoping to gather more details regarding this incident.
Anyone with more information should contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 269-337-8139 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
