MILTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An Indiana man is dead after he was thrown from his motorcycle during a crash in Cass County.
It happened around 10 a.m. Wednesday on Redfield Street near Carter Avenue in Milton Township, near the Michigan/Indiana border.
Cass County Sheriff’s deputies say 25-year-old Nicholas Washburn of South Bend was traveling westbound on Redfield when he collided with a van that was stopped at a stop sign facing southbound on Carter.
Washburn was thrown from his motorcycle and then struck a third vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Redfield but had stopped to turn left.
Troopers immediately administered first aid and CPR until more medical personnel arrived. Washburn was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital where he later died.
The victim was wearing a helmet and no other drivers were injured during the crash.
Authorities believe speed may have been a factor but they are still investigating.
