KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man is in the Kalamazoo County Jail and facing several charges following a shooting investigation in early June.
On Thursday the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety’s Crime Reduction Team located and arrested the 23-year-old man for assault with intent to commit murder, and multiple weapons charges including felon in possession of firearm and felony firearm.
This comes after a gunshot victim, a 33-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was found near the city’s Vine Neighborhood in the 100 block of West Vine Street near South Burdick Street around 12:30 a.m. Monday, June 8.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The Kalamazoo Metro SWAT team was then called in to investigate the shooting. The search eventually led them to the 800 block of Stuart Avenue on the city’s Northside where they executed a search warrant.
During the search authorities located additional evidence from the possible shooting but no other specifics were released.
