KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — After receiving several murals painted on boarded up businesses downtown, the City of Kalamazoo will now be receiving a Black Lives Matter street mural.
According to the official Facebook event page, the mural will be painted on South Rose Street between Lovell and South Street.
MLive reports that the street in question will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while the painting is underway. Similar events have already taken place in areas like Washington D.C., Flint, and Jackson.
The event is currently seeking volunteers to help with various tasks. Those interested in joining can find more information at the Facebook Event page.
The painting event will take place on June 19, or “Juneteenth” in Downtown Kalamazoo.
