NIAGARA FALLS (WKZO AM/FM) – The high-water issues of the Great Lakes are having one benefit, as Niagara Falls is roaring at near record levels.
Outflow from Lake Erie is about 70000 cubic feet per second higher than normal, according to a spokesman for the US Army Corps of Engineers in Buffalo.
That, along with higher winds in the area, has resulted in increased flow over both the American and Canadian falls.
Even though tourists can’t cross the US/Canada border, they can still see the Canadian falls from a few vantage points…and they can hear the power of the water going over at 270,000 cubic feet per second.
