MICHIGAN (WKZO AM/FM) — Michiganders will soon be able to get rid of those returnables that have been piling up at home.
Bottle and can return facilities will resume operations starting on Monday, June 12th but there will still be several restrictions in place, including limits on the number of containers individuals are allowed to return each day.
Meijer says customers can only return up to $25 dollars worth of cans and bottles per visit.
They’re also asking everyone to separate and drain their bottles and cans, put them in clean containers, only bring brands that are sold at Meijer stores, practice social distancing, and wear a mask.
Meijer officials add that they will be very busy and urge everyone to be patient as they bring their returnables in.
It is estimated that $65 million dollars in unreturned bottles and cans have piled up in Michigan.
