THREE RIVERS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police with the Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET), along with the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) and other law enforcement agencies are reporting a large drug bust that occurred in Three Rivers Wednesday.
The investigation began when a Three Rivers male in his 40’s was arrested in the Upper Peninsula after he delivered several pounds of methamphetamine to the area. UPSET contacted SWET South with information gathered from their investigation and SWET South conducted a search warrant in the city of Three Rivers.
The residence was located in the 400 block of 4th Avenue.
Multiple law enforcement agencies joined SWET in the serving of the warrant. A search of the property revealed four adults and two children, ages 1 and 3, along with illegal narcotics.
Methamphetamine and cocaine was seized from the house, along with meth pipes that were said to be several feet away from the two children, who were sleeping alone in the basement.
Warrant requests will be submitted to the St. Joseph County prosecutor’s office for the subjects at the residence in Three Rivers once crime lab results are obtained. The UPSET case in the U.P. will be handled by federal prosecutors.
Child Protective Services was also notified about the children.
