KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo woman is in custody for kidnapping and home invasion after she broke into a residence and attempted to abduct an infant.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were called to the 1800 block of Humphrey Street near Trimble Avenue in the city’s Eastwood neighborhood on Thursday after a report of a fight.
There they saw two women struggling over a small infant.
After breaking up the fight authorities learned that the 53-year-old Kalamazoo woman forced her way into the home, assaulted another woman, took the child, and walked out of the house.
The mother of the child attempted to stop the suspect and that’s when the struggle ensued and the suspect assaulted the mother several times.
Officers say the infant was not injured and the suspect was arrested.
The case is now being forwarded to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutors Office for further review. No other details have been released at this time.
