BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An investigation is underway after a shooting in Benton Harbor Township killed one man and injured two others.
It was first reported around 2 a.m. Sunday at Orchards Mall on Pipestone Road near I-94, but three victims were already taken to Spectrum Health Lakeland hospital.
Benton Harbor Township say an 18-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital, a 19-year-old suffered serious injuries, and a 20-year-old had non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have since identified the deceased victim as 18-year-old Tyreik Payton-Daniels.
At this time it’s still unclear what prompted the shooting. Authorities say there was a large gathering at the mall but no further details have been released.
