DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Officials with AAA are reporting that Michigan has seen a 9 cent increase in gas prices this week.
Data provided by AAA indicates that Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.05 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 34 cents more than this time last month, but still 74 cents less than this time last year.
In Kalamazoo County, the average gas price is currently listed as $2.08 per gallon.
Motorists are paying an average of $31 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $13 from when prices were their highest last July.
The increase in demand has occurred alongside an increase in the national average. If this trend continues, motorists will likely see pump prices continue to move higher.
“As the Michigan state average rises above $2 a gallon for the first time in over two months, motorists could expect pump prices to continue their increase through this week,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA – The Auto Club Group.
The highest and lowest ends of the spectrum are listed as follows:
- Most expensive gas price averages: Saginaw ($2.09), Benton Harbor ($2.09), Lansing ($2.09)
- Least expensive gas price averages: Traverse City ($1.96), Metro Detroit ($2.03), Ann Arbor ($2.04)
