LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has announced that Michigan’s Secretary of State branch offices will reopen Monday, June 1 for specific transactions.
129 of them will be open for business; however, two offices will remain closed. The Wyoming branch on Rogers Plaza Southwest is still closed because a person in contact with branch staff last week tested positive for COVID-19 and the Grand Rapids branch on Division Avenue North is also shut down due to damage sustained during the police brutality protests Saturday evening.
Customers with existing appointments at either of those branches will receive emails as their appointment date approaches with instructions to have their appointment honored at another branch in the area.
At all the other open branches, residents will be able to take care of the following things by appointment only:
- Driver licenses and state ID transactions that must be done in person
- Title transfers
- Operator, CDL, chauffeur, mechanic and motorcycle testing
- Seasonal commercial vehicle renewal
To schedule an appointment, go to Michigan.gov/sos, or call 888-767-6424.
Appointments can be made up to 180 days ahead of time, and same day appointments open up 24 hours prior to the appointment time.
