CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The father of an infant boy who was reported as missing and in possible danger was arrested Saturday morning.
Michigan State Police say the 25-year-old man from Burlington is facing several charges after he was arrested in Kalamazoo County.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports authorities thought the five-day-old boy may have been in danger because of comments made by the father following a reported domestic assault in Emmett Township.
The baby was found at his maternal grandmothers home in Newton Township a few hours later. The father drove up but then took off and struck an unoccupied State Police patrol car.
There was no pursuit but the father’s vehicle was spotted on South 34th Street in Kalamazoo County.
State Police say the man fled but later pulled over. He then reversed his vehicle and rammed a State Police patrol car which had pulled in behind him. A trooper suffered what were described as minor injuries.
Charges are expected to be filed in both Calhoun and Kalamzoo Counties.
