KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Moe’s Southwest Grill in Kalamazoo has announced that it will permanently close due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Atlanta-based restaurant chain is known for serving Mexican and Southwestern food and had two locations in the Kalamazoo area. The location on 4206 Stadium Drive was originally opened in 2013.
The Stadium Drive location is now closed, but the location in Portage at 6225 South Westnedge Avenue remains open.
The location on Stadium has been closed ever since Governor Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order was enacted. Staff of the company had previously said this measure had hurt business.
A request for comment from Moe’s was not immediately returned Wednesday to WKZO staff.
Currently, the closure of dine-in services in Michigan is extended until May 28.
This news comes as another Kalamazoo restaurant, BraVo!, has also announced it’s permanent closure. BrAvo! had been open in the Kalamazoo area for 33 years, and also closed due to the pandemic.
