KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The coronavirus pandemic continues to put an end to upcoming events, some that are even months from now.
On Friday, Kalamazoo County officials announced that the 2020 Kalamazoo County Youth Fair has been canceled.
This is mainly due to the Michigan State University Extension’s decision to eliminate all face-to-face 4-H activities and programs until September 1st, including 4-H participation at Michigan County fairs.
According to a statement, Kalamazoo County Youth Fair organizers said that “While this difficult decision is disappointing news for the Kalamazoo County Youth Fair, 4-H participants, and the community, it does provide ample time for us to seek alternative plans for some 4-H programs in 2020.”
The county and the fair council will work with MSU Extension staff and 4-H volunteers to brainstorm new ways to continue celebrating 4-H youth projects.
The fair was scheduled for August 11th through the 15th and is known for its hundreds of farm animals, carnival rides, kids activities, and much more.
