MATTAWAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The final two candidates for the Superintendent of Mattawan Consolidated Schools will be interviewing with the school board virtually next week.
The school district has announced that the final round of interviews will take place virtually on Tuesday, April 21 at 5 p.m.
The district began the search process to find a new leader after Superintendent Robin Buchler announced in November that she would be retiring at the end of the school year. Buchler was hired to lead the district in 2015 after being promoted from assistant superintendent of instruction.
The final two candidates were previously named as Randall Fleenor and Stephanie Lemmer, who were selected after a round of interviews last month.
Lemmer previously served as director of Head Start for the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency before being hired as the superintendent of St. Joseph County’s Centreville Public Schools in 2017.
Working in a variety of roles as an educator, Fleenor was an elementary teacher and principal before being tapped in 2015 to oversee Lakewood Public Schools in Barry County.
District officials say the new superintendent is expected to start overseeing the district on July 1st.
Instructions for how to view and participate in the virtual meeting will be posted on the district website an hour before the meeting starts.
