ST. JOSEPH, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Criticism of how Governor Whitmer has extended her “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order continues.
The six Republican members of Michigan’s Congressional Delegation sent a letter to the Governor, stating what the office of Representative Fred Upton called, “their serious concern … while as Governor she was right in issuing the initial executive order in an effort to protect public health and slow the spread of the virus, and that she had the constitutional authority to do so, her latest order ‘is far too restrictive and includes provisions that seem arbitrary and internally inconsistent.’”
“We’ve mastered this idea of ‘social distancing,’” the St. Joseph Congressman explained during his weekly interview on “WHTC Morning News.” “There are some things that we can move forward on and begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel without being so restrictive, while still maintaining the safety that we all want, to keep that virus out.”
Joining Upton in the letter are fellow GOP lawmakers Jack Bergman, Bill Huizenga, Paul Mitchell, John Moolenaar and Tim Walberg. A copy of the letter is available here.
