HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — West Michigan Jews are preparing to celebrate one of their biggest holidays virtually.
Rabbi Michael Shaddock of Temple Emanuel in Grand Rapids says Passover is a time for families and communities to come together, commemorating the Jewish liberation of from slavery in Egypt.
“It’s a fun evening, because people get together and tell that story,” he said.
The holiday also serves as a reminder to be grateful helping those who are still enslaved to habits and patterns. Shaddock says it’s important to remember.
“Staying home does not mean not observing Passover,” he said, adding that he’d be leading his first-ever Zoom seder.
Passover begins at sundown Wednesday, April 8, 2020 and ends of April 16.
