KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A driver is recovering after a rollover crash in Kalamazoo’s West Douglas Neighborhood.
It happened just before 7 p.m. Monday on West Main Street near Hilbert Street.
Public Safety officers say the driver was traveling westbound on West Main when their vehicle left the roadway at the curve, struck a utility pole, and flipped onto its side.
First responders shut down West Main for nearly an hour. They had to use extrication tools to free the driver, who was taken to the Bronson hospital with minor injuries.
Sources say the driver may have took their eyes off the road which caused the crash.
The department released a statement saying, “Kalamazoo Public Safety wishes to remind drivers that your first duty as a driver is to drive your vehicle. Remember to keep your eyes on the road ahead, and minimize distractions in the passenger cabin.”
No other details have been released.
