KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is requiring health screenings for all of their workers before each shift.
They’ve created an online questionnaire that asks things like if the officer has experienced any symptoms, if they have come in contact with a patient, and other questions that determine if they should stay home.
Based on their answers, they then receive a “stoplight rating.” A red notification after submitting means they must stay home, yellow means they should contact the department’s designated health and safety officers for further actions, and green means they’re good to work.
This comes after two KDPS officers have tested positive for COVID-19 so far.
Officials with the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department are also recommending that all business owners, not just law enforcement officers, conduct worker health screenings and implement a social distancing plan.
As of Sunday, Kalamazoo County has reported 53 positive cases and three deaths.
