KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the local Art Hop event will be going virtual for its event this weekend.
As a result, all artists in Kalamazoo are welcome to participate in light of the new presentation method.
“It usually takes us about a month to put an Art Hop together, but because we’re not doing it in person, we’re inviting all the artists in Kalamazoo,” Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo representative Kristen Chesak said. “Visit our Facebook page from 5 to 8 p.m. on April 3 and put your art up there. Let’s have a conversation about what you’re working on, what you’re proud of.”
Chesak says that all mediums are welcome for this online event.
“We want to see paintings, we want to see dance, we want to see music, we want to see theater pieces, we want to see everything that makes Kalamazoo great in one place for three hours on Friday night,” Chesak said. “We’re inviting everyone else to come and experience it, to see what is happening in the arts community.”
Artists interested in participating should follow these directions in order to join in:
- Go to the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo Facebook Page on Friday, April 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.
- Tag or Check in the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo page.
- Use the hashtags #Virtual #ArtHop
The public will be able to view works from the page when this process is complete.
Chesak is confident that this virtual Art Hop will still be a success.
“I think there’s hope, and there’s always hope within the arts community to be creative and figure out a way to come together,” Chesak said.
More information about the Art Hop event this month can be found at the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo website and Facebook page.
