A suspect facing several charges relating to a high speed, three-county police chase with his infant daughter in the backseat has been identified.
Last week, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office said the man was originally a suspect in a domestic violence case, before he led law enforcement on a pursuit that spanned more than 50 miles across three counties.
Officers say the suspect initially fled from a Portage Public Safety officer, continuing to speed through Van Buren County along westbound I-94. The chase led officers through Berrien County, with the suspect eventually crashing his vehicle in Benton Harbor.
The suspect was later apprehended by K-9 unit Blek, who located him in 1200 block of Vincent Court.
During the pursuit, the suspect had his 1-year-old daughter in the vehicle unbuckled as he sped over the speed limit, at times surpassing 110 MPH.
The suspect has since been arraigned in Berrien County District Court and is also facing charges in Kalamazoo County. His charges relate to child abuse, reckless driving, and more.
