KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Nonprofit organization Glover’s Heroes successfully delivered 5,000 sandwiches from Jimmy John’s to 25 hospitals across the state Sunday, including Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
According to the organization, Kalamazoo was the final stop for the massive delivery.
“We feel for each and every nurse and medical professional on the frontline and are so grateful for your work each and every day,” the organization said in a statement. “We hope we made your day just a little brighter. Thank you for being our heroes.”
Delivering sandwiches amid the COVID-19 outbreak is not the only service being provided. Glover’s Heroes is also working to help make home living easier for nurses.
“We want to take care of our medical staff for selflessly taking care of so many right now,” founder Jeff Glover said in a statement. “This program covers 100% of the cost of the materials and the labor for the work. Every dollar donated to GH goes back to a hero as our Real Estate Team volunteers their time and efforts. Any other administrative costs are covered by me.”
Anyone can nominate a nurse with home repair needs for the program and final recipients will be chosen by the end of April. More information about this program, including how to nominate, can be found online at GloversHeroes.org.
According to the organization, Glover’s Heroes is a 501(c)(3) foundation meant to assist and give back to local veterans, teachers and emergency responders.
