ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WHTC AM/FM) — Allegan County Health officials issued a statement via email saying a second COVID-19 patient has been identified. The person is 40 years old, has no travel history, and is currently hospitalized.
The statement indicates this person “took proper precautions early on and had minimal community contact. Close contacts have been notified.”
County health officials are investigting.
“It is incredibly important for all of us to follow the Governor’s Executive ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe’ Order. If you are ill and a critical infrastructure worker, do not report to work. Call a medical provider or use a tele-health app to get guidance on next steps,” said Angelique Joynes, MPH, RN, Allegan’s top health officer. “Remember to act as if those you interact with have COVID-19. Continue to practice social distancing and good hand hygiene.”
With the increase in COVID-19 cases statewide — as of Saturday, 111 Michigan residents have died from the virus and 4,650 have been diagnosed with it — health officials says everyond should behave as though the virus is present when they are in public places, takoing all recommended prevention measures.
If you feel well, you do not need to be tested. Mildly ill people are encouraged to stay home and contact their healthcare providers by phone for guidance. This will help prevent additional spread and save critical healthcare resources for those at high-risk and who may need supportive care, according to Allegan County’s health statement Saturday, March 28, 2020.
