HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — While many workers are laid-off, unemployed and worried about their employment future, there is hope. Some West Michigan companies are actively hiring new people.
Meijer, Aldi, Big Lots, Lowes, Walgreens, Family Fare/Spartan Nash, Heinz, the U.S. Postal Service, and several restaurants and many others are hiring. Many of the jobs are short-term openings, aimed at handling the rush of business, similar to a Christmas-time temp job.
Todd Hanselman is the human relations director at Samaritas, which runs group homes and senior living facilities. He says Zoom, Skype and other platforms allow the hiring process to continue.
“It’s a new experience for some of our leaders and some of our candidates for hiring,” he said. “But we are still hiring. We’re still going through our background check processes.”
Websites like indeed.com have dozens of positions immediately available.
