GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Customers will no longer be able to return products at Meijer stores for the time being as a precaution during the coronavirus pandemic.
The West Michigan retailer announced on Friday that locations will not be accepting product returns, recalls, and exchanges until April 16.
To give customers more time to return products in the future the company has expanded its eligible return policy to 120 days for all purchased items.
On Tuesday, March 24 Meijer previously discontinued its bottle return program at all stores as a safety precaution for customers and staff during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The company has also announced the halting of other exchange services for Sodastream products, automotive battery returns, as well as rentals for Bissell carpet cleaners and power washers.
Meijer has altered its standard 24-hour service at stores in response to public health concerns. Locations will now open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m., with shopping hours designated for elderly customers and those with chronic health conditions from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
In a statement Meijer said that service desks will remain open at stores and continue to offer lottery sales, postal services, and Western Union programs.
