FOXBORO, MA (WTVB) – Another longtime New England Patriot who was instrumental to their dynasty is no longer a part of the team, as New England has released kicker and franchise leading scorer Stephen Gostkowski.
Gostkowski spent his first 14 seasons with the Patriots, winning three Super Bowls and was a two-time All-Pro.
Washington Redskins coach Ron Rivera is being reunited with one of his former quarterbacks from when he coached the Panthers, but no, it’s not the former MVP. Washington has acquired Kyle Allen in a trade with Carolina.
Allen made 12 starts last season for Rivera’s Panthers after Cam Newton was injured, going 5-7 with 17 TD passes but 23 turnovers.
Allen, who is expected to compete with 2019 first-round pick Dwayne Haskins for the starting job, became available after Carolina agreed to a two-year deal with XFL star P.J. Walker.
