LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) — State medical officials now say Michigan has 549 COVID-19 cases, as of Friday afternoon.
State health officials report that 2,449 tests have been administered, with the state lab processing 1,557; hospitals, 744; and commercial labs, 148.
Infectious disease specialists predicted COVID-19 would infect more people 60 years and older.
In Michigan, the largest group diagnosed with COVID-19 are people ages 40 to 49 year olds, 21 percent; followed by 50 to 59 year olds, 20 percent; 60 to 69 – 19 percent; 30 to 39, 16 percent; 70 to 79, 11 percent; 20 to 29, 8 percent; 80 and older, 5 percent; and 0 to 19 years old, 1 percent.
Men continue to get COVID-19 slightly more-often than women, 51 to 49 percent.
As of 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2020, the U.S. statistics reflected 16,018 cases diagnosed; 210 deaths and 121 recovering.
