PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Portage Public Safety Department is investigating a house fire that resulted in about $20,000 in damages.
Crews were dispatched to the 1800 block of Vickery Road off of Portage Road around 7 p.m. Monday and saw smoke coming from the eaves and attic of the home.
Firefighters located the fire in the attic and quickly extinguished the flames. They say the fire had been smoldering for some time and caused damage to a large area of the attic space.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and nobody was injured during the incident.
