KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — At 9 p.m. on March 3rd the following boil water advisory was lifted. The water is now deemed safe to drink without having to take any extra precautions.

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Crews have repaired the water main break on South Westnedge Avenue but the boil water advisory, which was expected to be lifted on Monday, is being extended for some residents in the area.
Affected areas include:
– South Westnedge Avenue, from Parker Avenue (northern boundary) to Pratt Road (southern boundary) on both sides of the street
– Pleasant Home Court, from South Westnedge Avenue (eastern boundary) west to the dead end of Pleasant Home Court (western boundary) on both sides of the street
The advisory did NOT include:
– The southwest and southeast corners of South Westnedge Avenue and Parker Avenue
– The northeast and southeast corners of South Westnedge Avenue and Buchanan Avenue
– The northwest and southwest corners of South Westnedge and Denway Drive
– The northwest and southwest corners of South Westnedge and Liberty Street
– The northwest and southwest corners of South Westnedge and Pleasant Avenue
– The northeast and southeast corners of South Westnedge Avenue and Evelyn Avenue
– The northwest corner of South Westnedge Avenue and Pratt Road
– Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park South
Officials say the first water samples came back clean but the second test was positive for the coliform bacteria so more sampling wil continue before the advisory can be lifted.
The advisory was expected to be lifted by Monday, March 2nd, but now it may be until March 5th. Until then, they encourage municipal water customers in the affected areas to boil water for at least two minutes prior to consumption.
Crews were called to a portion of South Westnedge Avenue near Buchanan Street on Friday after the break flooded parts of the street and closed a lane for several hours.
