COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Workers have been notified that Penske Logistics of Coldwater has lost its contract with Ford Motor Company.
A Penske Logistics company spokesman says at least 120 jobs in Coldwater involving warehouse employees and truck drivers will be affected when the warehousing and transportation services are moved to Romulus and transitioned to other providers. This action is being taken after Penske Logistics lost the contract in a competitive bidding process.
A letter addressed to workers states that Ford Motor Company, which was Penske Logistics’ customer, has formally notified them they have selected another provider to service the business that is currently operated out of the Coldwater facility.
It also explained several options that are open to employees and points out that there are immediate position openings on many business accounts within Penske Logistics and that company representative will provide assistance during this time of transition.
This does not affect the Clemens Food Group operations at Penske Logistics.
A growth in business with Ford Motor Company led to Penske Logistics taking over the old Yellow Freight facility in Coldwater and operations began in June of 2014.
Penske Logistics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Penske Truck Leasing.
