KALAMAZOO TWP., MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A boil water advisory is in effect for residents living around Dearborn Avenue in Kalamazoo Township.
City water officials announced the precautionary measure after a loss of pressure was reported from a water main break on the street during Wednesday, February 26th.
Areas under the advisory include:
- the southeast corner of Dearborn Avenue and Washburn Avenue
- the northeast corner of Dearborn Avenue and Cooper Avenue
- the southwest corners of both Dearborn Avenue and Ira Avenue
- Ira Avenue from East Main Street to Dearborn Avenue
- Washburn Avenue from Dearborn Avenue to Charles Avenue
- Lum Avenue on the northwest corner of Dearborn Avenue
- East Main Street at the southeast and southwest corner of Ira Avenue
Samples have been collected to determine if water is safe at the affected site. Residents are asked to boil and water used for consumption or ingested orally.
Officials say they expect the advisory to be lifted within 72 hours, or on Saturday, February 29th.
