PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A young canine is ready to serve law enforcement in Kalamazoo County, but first he needs a new name.
The Portage Department of Public Safety is asking for the public to vote on the name of their freshest recruit who will join the force after being found at a Kennel in Western Pennsylvania.
Portage Public Safety Officer Jordan Wentworth discovered the malinois/shepherd mix who was born during 2018 in Hungary.
Wentworth’s previous K-9 partner Zorro passed away unexpectedly on November 7th, and the new dog is set to begin law enforcement training in the coming weeks.
the Department has set up a facebook poll to determine the new K-9 officers name, with Wentworth narrowing it down to three options: Dante, Riggs, or Hugo.
Those interested in casting a vote can so at the Portage Department of Public Safety’s Facebook Page.
