PONTIAC, MI (WTVB) – State officials are working to stress the importance of taking part in the census this year.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel joined a bipartisan group of area leaders at a forum at a Pontiac church yesterday to encourage people to fill out the form online, through the mail, or by talking to a census worker over the phone. She says in the city of Detroit, $5,500 will be lost in federal funding for each person who does not take part.
Not only does the census determine federal money for states, but it also is used to determine how many representatives each state has in the U.S. House.
