KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo County Treasurer’s Office is releasing their list of the most popular dog breeds and dog names in the county based on their dog license data.
The most common dog breeds are:
- Labrador retriever
- Pit Bull Terrier
- Chihuahua
- Golden Retriever
- German Shepherd
- Shih Tzu
- Beagle
- Yorkshire Terrier
- Dachshund
- Boxer
The most common dog names in Kalamazoo County are:
- Max
- Bella
- Buddy
- Rocky
- Charlie
- Harley
- Zoe/Zoey
- Cooper
- Daisy
- Sadie
County Treasurer Mary Balkema is also reminding dog owners that they must have their dog licensed before March 1st. “Dog licenses provide peace of mind knowing that if a pet is lost, he or she can easily be identified and returned home,” Balkema said.
Dogs must be licensed with the county treasurer’s office at four months of age and within 30 days of adoption. Tags can be purchased from veterinarian and municipal offices as well as Animal Services, the Kalamazoo County Treasurer’s Office, or by mail.
