KALMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Hockey fans in southwest michigan can enjoy time with their valentine and raise money for cancer research at an upcoming K-Wings game.
The local hockey team will be raising money to combat breast cancer during their pink ice game against the Toledo Walleye the night of Friday, February 14th. The team has announced that proceeds collected from select ticket sales will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Attendees of the Valentines Day match-up are being encouraged to wear pink to support cancer research and celebrate the romantic holiday, and like past years the ice is expected to be colored a pinkish hue during gameplay.
The Susan G. Komen Foundation is one of the leading charities to fight breast cancer and support research on the illness nationwide. The organization is known for it’s pink ribbon awareness campaign and work with clinical programs.
The K-Wings game kicks off at 7 P.M. on Valentines Day at the Wings Arena in Kalamazoo.
