ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police are saying that multiple dogs were killed after being thrown from a moving vehicle, with only one being able to be rescued.
On Thursday, February 6th unnamed witnesses reported seeing chihuahuas being tossed out of the passenger side of a silver Honda Odyssey traveling on 124th Avenue in Wayland Township.
The individuals then buried the five dogs who had died, and brought the surviving animal to a shelter to be cared for.
Officials at the shelter contacted police about the animal abuse complaint on Tuesday, February 11th. Allegan County Sheriff’s deputies have contacted those who witnessed the abuse and are in the process of recovering the dogs bodies as an investigation gets underway.
The sole chihuahua who survived has been named “Lucky Lulu” and remains in the care of the local animal shelter.
Two suspects involved in the alleged abuse have been described as a white couple in their 20’s or 30’s. The woman suspect is depicted as having blonde hair, while the male suspect was seen wearing longer, dark hair described as curly. A provided police description said that both were “very skinny, missing teeth” according to the witnesses.
