KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo pastor and former president of the local chapter of the NAACP is now facing an assault and battery charge.
37-year-old Reverend Strick Strickland and his wife were first accused of paying a several teens for sex acts, but he denies the allegations.
A misdemeanor warrant was authorized on Friday and Strickland posted bond on Monday.
WOOD-TV reports that the new charge comes from an incident that occurred on December 15th in the 600 block of North Rose Street, but specific details were not released.
Strickland has been the pastor of Second Baptist Church since 2012. Second Baptist is located on North Rose.
The couple’s home was raided by Michigan State Police in September, and the findings have been handed over to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office.
Strickland’s name also came up in the Aniya Mack murder investigation as having had an inappropriate relationship with the victim. It is another allegation he denies.
