KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man is facing multiple charges after ramming into two police vehicles during a drug investigation.
The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team and the Kalamazoo Crime Reduction Team conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of Riverview Drive on Tuesday in connection to a wanted armed man believed to be distributing meth.
When they attempted to stop the driver he slammed into two police cruisers, disabling his own vehicle, and then fled on foot until he was caught be investigators.
The suspect continued to resist arrest, injuring himself and two investigators in the process, and a loaded firearm was removed from him. They all only suffered minor injuries.
Authorities searched his vehicle and seized another loaded stolen pistol, two additional magazines and ammunition, crystal meth, drug packaging materials, and several thousand dollars.
Seven charges will be submitted for the 31-year-old suspect.
Charges will be submitted for felony firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, damage of police property, and resisting and obstructing causing Injury.
