FABIUS TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Two family members were killed after an early morning fire broke out a St. Joseph County home.
Michigan State Troopers say the fire happened after midnight on Tuesday, January 28th on Harder Road between Youngman Road and Brick Chapel Roads in Fabius Township.
After being dispatched, they found the living room and garage of the home taken over by the blaze. Firefighters were eventually able to extinguish the fire, and found the body of a mother and child inside.
Police are saying that three children were able to escape the fire by crawling out a window of the home. They were later taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The victims have since been identified as Michelle Diana Bixler, 38, and Cheyenne Ruth Bixler, 16.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
