CASS COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a two-vehicle crash sent two people involved to the hospital Monday afternoon.
Police were called to the intersection of M62 and Hospital St. in Jefferson Township just after 5 p.m.
It was discovered that 21-year-old Elkhart resident Kevin McCarthy was traveling southbound on M62 when he failed to yield the right of way while turning east on Hospital St.
He had failed to yield for a vehicle traveling northbound, which was driven by 54-year-old Cassopolis resident Steven Wilds.
Police say that Wilds was transported by Life Care EMS to Lakeland Hospital Niles for his injures, while McCarthy was transported by a relative to seek medical treatment for minor injuries that he sustained.
The air bags in both vehicles were deployed and both drivers were wearing seatbelts. No alcohol or drugs were suspected to be contributing to the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.
