ALAMO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — It was a close call for one ice fisher on Twin Lakes in Alamo Township.
A 42-year-old Kalamazoo man was fishing with friends when he fell through the ice around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Several people on scene called 911 while the man was able to keep his head above water, but could not get out. Once Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office first responders arrived, the victim managed to get out of the water only to fall in again through thin ice.
Shortly after, rescuers got him out of the water and onto dry land.
The victim was transported to Bronson Hospital for treatment.
