KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies are praising one of their K-9 officers for tracking down a missing man with autism.
The department received a call just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday from the man who walked away and was now lost in the woods near the 9800 block of East G Avenue west of 35th Street in Comstock Township.
Exposure was a concern with temperatures being below freezing.
During the search, deputies launched K-9 Roseco who quickly located the missing subject.
It’s unclear what the man’s condition was when he was found. No other details have been released at this time.
K-9 Roseco has been with the department since 2018 and “is trained to help deputies track individuals, find lost items, detect the odor of narcotics, and protect his handler,” according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Department’s website.
