KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A cat is saved after a house fire in Kalamazoo’s Milwood Neighborhood over the weekend.
Public Safety officers were called to the 1500 block of Roseland Avenue between Harvard and Cameron Streets around 12:45 p.m. Sunday where they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the first floor of the home.
The residents were able to escape with their dog but said their cat was still inside.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 20 minutes and located the “very vocal” and “panicked” cat, according to their press release.
The pet was treated and returned to their owner. One resident was taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation.
The Fire Marshall’s Office is looking into the cause of the fire.
